Local family celebrates new beginning
For homebuyer Melanie, and her four children, the first couple weeks in their Habitat home have been all about putting down roots and look towards a promising future. At the dedication ceremony, Melanie thanked Habitat, Carlson (the lead sponsor on the home) and all the volunteers who helped build her home. She's now planning longterm. "My goals now are to finish my nursing degree, save for college for my kids and save for some of the projects we want to do to improve our new home."
For the second straight year, Minnetonka-based Carlson is sponsoring and building a Habitat home in North Minneapolis. In fact, the two homes are right next to each other on Irving Avenue. On Monday, September 17th Carlson executives, including the new President and CEO Trudy Rautio, helped kickoff work on the newest home and dedicate the home that volunteers finished earlier this summer.
“Carlson’s employee volunteers are proud to be a partner of Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity, an organization that does so much good for so many in our community,” says Rautio.
We invite you to be part of one of our upcoming home dedications. An opportunity to socialize and tour the home will follow the dedications. E-mail megan.Buchholz@tchabitat.org for more details.
