Habitat partner General Mills does it again!

Another great week in North Minneapolis has lead to fast productivity by our General Mills crew. Clad in yellow T-shirts and smiles the crew (mostly from the IS department so far) has been making strides. Last week they were working on trusses for the front porch and building the garage, this week they will be working on siding, finishgm blog 1ing the garage, insulation and sheet rock.

After talking with a number of the volunteers on site, the consensus was clear, they were happy to build with Habitat because it was nice to be outside, away from computers, getting to know co-workers better and having the opportunity to help people. The overwhelming expressions of love for working for General Mills because of their commitment to the community and their employees was astounding. It's no wonder that GM made CNN's list of Best Companies to Work for again in 2012.

One of the volunteers from the IS department this week, named Jeff said that he was thrilled to make one of his big volunteer commitments this year through Habitat because he lives in an apartment, so it's not often that he gets "to play with power tools."

GM blog 2Ruth Wintheiser who has been doing builds with Habitat through GM for 6 years told us that the biggest challenge of the week was the extreme heat, but was glad to see that Friday was so nice.

According to Matt Done "Habitat for Humanity is a great organization and General Mills makes it so easy for me to volunteer that it's hard to say no."
